According to Talking Points Memo:
Lieberman is apparently planning to run for reelection in 2012.
Will Lieberman run for reelection as a Democrat? He is keeping his options open:
As for whether he would run as a Democrat himself in 2012 , "That's an open question," Lieberman said.
As Democrats, I say we slam the door on Lieberman's attempt to use our party to win reelection. Let's pass a "Sore Loser" law in Connecticut!
What's a Sore Loser law?
[A] sore-loser law. . . prevents someone who lost in a party primary from running as an independent in the general election.
In 2006, Lieberman ran in the Democratic primary, lost, and then ran again as an independent (or, rather, as a "Lieberman for Connecticut"), and won.
Let's not let him do that again. If Lieberman wants to run as a Democrat, he should be prepared to win as a Democrat. If he isn't, then we don't want him.
Let's pass a "Sore Loser" law in Connecticut and make Lieberman put up or shut up. I personally have had enough with his phony Hamlet is-he-or-isn't-he a Democrat crap. If he wants to be a Democrat, he has to be a Democrat!
