While Democrats Are Dithering Mightily In Congress, A Conservative Columnist Nails Barack Obama's Only True Path To Salvation
They always say know thy enemy. I add, "read thy enemy". Which is why it's worth reading The National Review. It's the usual collection of hysteria and paranoia wrapped neatly in ten dollar words.
So it's surprising when one of their columnists, Mark Steyn, gets it completely right. His article is a revelation. It's honest. It makes sense. And it's the best damned advice Brack Obama is going to ever get:
Obama? Well, the post-partisan hopeychanger is just another 50/50 Mister Divisive. We're a long way from January 20th. But, considering the spending and the health care and the summer of discontent, we're not quite as far as we should be. On the basis of these results, if I were the President, I'd be tempted to ram health care down the throats of America and figure I'd take a hit in 2010 but that it wouldn't be a wipeout, and that the payoff down the road would be worth it.
In other words, go for it. Stop letting a bunch of lobbyists, teabaggers, GOP Hatchetmen and namby pamby Blue Dogs disrail was is easily the biggest opportunity for reform this nation has ever seen.
When a conservative gets it this right, you've just got to listen.
