Wolf Blitzer personifies so much that is wrong with the media. Today he hit his personal nadir.
Apparently a fact isn't a fact if Wolf hasn't heard of it. Reporting on the Fort Hood shooting Blitzer passed on to the audience information about the alleged shooter's background. Dr. Hasan had attended courses at the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine in Bethesda, MD. Blitzer editorialized with the comment that he lived in Bethesda MD and had never heard of the facility, leaving the audience to presume that if Blitzer hadn't heard of it its existence was called into question. A few minutes later, with more information to hand, Blitzer told his audience "Well apparently the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine in Bethesda does exist." The only reason we were questioning its existence was that Blitzer reported he hadn't heard of it! This sums up the self-referential, "my thoughts and opinions are the only ones that count" attitude of the mainstream media. Wolf - it isn't about you!
