Most people thing "Taliban" Pete Sessions is about as right-wing as they come. Even before he was NRCC Chair, his political action committee was raising money for Michele Bachman.
Over the summer, his town hall meeting was the closest thing I've seen to a teabagger pep rally.
But ever since the Dede Scozzafava debacle, the have been rumblings in local right-wing blogosphere that Pete Sessions is a RINO, not a "true" conservative, and that it's time for him to go.
Now, Pete Sessions has a GOP primary opponent from the tea party movement.
If you want to help stop the insanity in TX-32--and the nation--please consider making a donation to Democratic Party challenger Grier Raggio. Information about Grier Raggio and a link to his Act Blue page over the jump...
With the GOP in turmoil over who's the most right-wing, and with a great progressive candidate, there's never been a better time to take back TX-32 for the Democrats.
Progressives are excited about Grier Raggio, first of all, because of the people he hangs out with--namely his wife and his mom!
Grier's wife, Lorraine Raggio, helped start the Dallas County blue tidal wave in 2004, when she became the the county's first Democrat in 20 years to be elected to a Civil District Court.
Grier's mom is Texas trailblazing lawyer Louise Raggio, the "Texas Tornado" who changed Texas' draconian laws requiring women to get their husband's permission for every legal and business transaction.
Secondly, Grier Raggio has already proven himself as a progressive in his own right by his record of giving to the Democratic party, supporting every Democratic challenger to Pete Sessions since the district was created, as well as the national presidential candidates. Grier is also a supporter of LULAC Council 4871 - The Dallas Rainbow Council, whose mission is to foster dialogue between Latinos and the LGBT community. Grier is a lawyer; although this is his first venture into politics, he's already demonstrating a better temperament for Congress than Pete Sessions, by meeting with groups representing the rich ethnic and socio-economic diversity of the District and by listening to what real people have to say--something Pete Sessions is too scared to do. (Pete Sessions like to talk tough, but he'd rather cut and run after a debate than talk to his constituents face-to-face).
The key to changing the tone in Washington is changing TX-32, and to do it by putting a Democrat in there to replace Pete Sessions, not someone farther to the right.
Grier Raggio is trying to raise $11,000 this weekend to prove to the DCCC that there is interest in this race. Please give what you can to help Grier meet his goal at his Act Blue Page.
