Do you remember?
Way back in August?
When we thought Chuck Grassley was a moderate Republican whom we could work with to reform health care?
Remember how he made nice at first?
Then remember how he fueled the false fire of the death panels?

I do.
And in August one nite (one of the few halfway decent nites of this miserable dreary rainy summer) I called his Senate office and I spoke to his answering machine and I said: "no matter who it is that runs against you I will give that individual money."
I said "i am so disappointed that you would stoop to this low level and feed these absurd rumors."
I said "I do not live in Iowa but I know that the people in Iowa deserve better than you."
And I have waited, wincing at every mention of his now forgotten name. And I have waited for a candidate who could at least give him a run for his money. No, a candidate who could win.
Have I found her? I don't know. But because of Chuck, Roxanne Conlin is 25 bucks richer. Not that much I know, but I love that Chuck brought it on himself. And I know that the likes of these sorts of donations, coming from unexpected places, do wonders to help a candidate feel hope and to get a message out.

Let me tell you it felt awfully good.
