There has been a lot of angst on the high powered liberal blogs and MSM all about President Obama's performance and what HE is going to do. How last week's elections were a referendum on his job rating, how nothing is happening. People are sorry they voted for him, he is disappointing do nothing slacker. Follow me below the fold for my take on how HE can't disappoint us. That's right HE can't disappoint us, we will do that all on our own.
First of all he didn't elect himself, WE did that!. We are the ones we have been waiting for, not Obama. WE ARE THE ONE WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. Now barely 10 months into his first term there is political theater playing non stop in the MSM and big blogs. We wanted a transparent government and having gotten something pretty close, we rarely use the information. Instead we take as gospel rumors from unnamed sources. We believe the crap spewed by the MSM and never push back, really push back. We let it grab our attention and the simplest solution to all of it, to read the plethora of information coming directly from the WH on .gov and .barackobama.com never reaches our consciousness. Instead there is frustration and anger among his supporters, the naysayers, the doubters and the easily scared and it is, well, just embarassing. "I don't know if he is the guy I hoped I voted for." Do you ever think maybe, just maybe we aren't the people he hoped we were? That instead of people willing to use the tools he gave us to help him change the country we whine. We fracture into to camps, call names and grind the same old axes. We get distracted and that which distracts us keeps us from the prize. We are the ones, means just that WE are the ones, democracies to survive must be participatory. We got to this sad state thru neglect, by taking for granted, for not understanding or valuing, for taking the easy way, easier to wring our hands than ring up our elected official and give him or her an ear full of discontent.
His message to us from a year ago, listen and ask yourself if he isn't justified in being disappointed in US.
He said a few weeks ago he is just getting started. He has a HUGE agenda and is saddle with a disfunctional legislative branch, this isn't going to be easy. A majority is kind of meaningless when so many Dems are owned by special interests or completely ignore the wants and needs of the people who put them there to serve. It is going to take more than one election cycle to fix Congress. In the mean time there is a lot of work to do. Some think he hasn't been clear on what he wants for HCR, actually he has. What he hasn't done is write the bill or shut the door to other ideas that might be superior to what he has in mind and he has left it to Congress to put the bill together. It is THEIR job, he needs them to be able to craft meaningful legislation. We need to continue to pressure them and hold them accountable. Now there are rumblings HCR is done for this year, well the HELL they say!
Listen to what we are saying and trust me what is said here matters. Do you think the boycott Kos wants isn't being reported as Obama's base has deserted him? Listen to the MSM the Status Quo is fighting back and they are fighting dirty. Lies and half truths, lack of confidence all put out there to derail President Obama's presidency, cut him off at the knees. We see it in trying to push HCR out to next year and make it a giant fail for Obama. It would literally kill all his agenda and make him a one term president. Lets not get into what Obama should be doing, lets look at what our elected officials are supposed to be doing, Congress. The Tea Baggers are in DC last week demonstrating AGAINST HCR, where the hell were we? The Republicans are planning more Town Hall Meetings, are WE going to be there too to call them on their lies?
We elected a man who truly wants to see this country work FOR us, but the most important part is US. The MSM points out that the Obama supporters who elected him in Virginia stayed home last week. Stayed HOME. Not a one of the changes will be handed to us, we are not only bucking the status quo but more than 40 years of sucking the life out of the lower 99% of American who are at the end of their rope. But NOTHING will happen if we STAY HOME. Didn't the last election prove anything to us? Didn't it show us, if we don't stay home we can move mountains, WE do absolutely anything, even the seemingly impossible!
Right now HCR is headed to the Senate and the bill stinks. Stupak Pitts has to go and we are the ones to make that happen, in fact at this point WE are the only ones who can make this go away. I know Kos wants OFA boycotted, here's why it is counterproductive.
"This victory alone is not the change we seek —it is only the chance for us to make that change."
— PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, ELECTION NIGHT, 2008
Organizing for America, the successor organization to Obama for America, is building on the movement that elected President Obama by empowering communities across the country to bring about our agenda of change.
In 2008, millions of Americans got involved in the political process — many for the first time — to fight for a new kind of politics and a better future for our country. Those voices enabled a new beginning — a chance to pursue the real world change our country needs. Now it's time for our movement to rise again, stand with President Obama, and make that promise a reality.
There are many ways to get involved:
Joining grassroots OFA campaigns to support the President's agenda. Online, on the phone, on doorsteps and in town halls in communities across the country, we're building the bottom-up support that makes real change possible.
Spreading the word to friends and neighbors about the President's approach on the big issues facing our nation, like health care, energy and education. Nothing is more powerful than your voice in your community.
Serving our community in ways big and small. Rebuilding America starts today.
Connecting with other supporters to form strong local groups, ready to take on whatever challenges we face.
Supporting leaders who share our values and are ready to carry forward the fight for change .
Our task is enormous. To succeed, we'll need all Americans, no matter how they may have voted, to join us in the work ahead. If we set aside the old politics that have kept us apart, there's no limit to what we can achieve.
If you aren't comfortable supporting OFA dozens if not hundreds of other organizations need your help to fight for HCR.
If you are a member of a Union, the AFL/CIO is phoning and canvassing for HCR they need your participation too.
Health Care For America, Health Care for America Now (HCAN) is a national grassroots campaign of more than 1,000 organizations in 46 states representing 30 million people dedicated to winning quality, affordable health care we all can count on in 2009. Our organization and principles are supported by President Obama, Vice President Biden, and more than 190 Members of Congress.
We are building a national movement to win comprehensive health care reform by helping mobilize people in their communities to lobby their U.S. Senators and Representatives in Congress to stand up to the insurance companies and other special interest groups to achieve quality, affordable health care in 2009.
Universal Health Care Action Network UHCAN believes strong grassroots organizing capacity at the local and state level is essential to build the political power needed to ensure that future health reform enacted in the U.S. is consistent with these principles.
UHCAN’s mission is to help build, strengthen and connect organizations and coalitions in states and nationally that can effectively engage the public, policymakers and key constituencies to achieve affordable, quality health care for all.
Each of these sites have links to others. This is crunch time, we all need to stand up and be heard. We need to stop waiting for our elected Dems to grow a pair or a spine or whatever it is going to take to do their jobs. Those that have them already flaunt them to our delight on Cap Hill and in the media. We need to play hard ball and let these dupes of special interests know they do this right and do it NOW or they won't be invited back to serve in our house.
This link cleverly brought to you by the Conservative Caucus has a list of email addresses and FAX numbers for the US Congress and Governors. Book mark it, there are plenty of issues coming down the pipe and coming soon.
