UPDATE: Donate before 8am CT Wednesday and you will get a super secret link to a video of me doing "the happy dance".
There are two ways today that you can help out The UpTake, the folks that brought you every minute of the US Senate recount/election contest trial in Minnesota between now Senator Al Franken and former Senator Norm Coleman.
GiveMN.org is partially matching donations made between now and 8am CT. As of 4pm CT We're 25% of the way to our $5,000 goal to keep The UpTake going so we can provide live streaming coverage of the UN Climate Change Conference next month in Copenhagen.
But even if you don't have spare cash (who does these days?) you can help us get money byvoting for us in the youtopia grant contest.
Not familiar with The UpTake? Read on
Here's the radio ad the local Air America station is running for us. It gives good background on why The UpTake deserves your support.
Text of radio ad:
Remember the US Senate recount? Even though it was a disputed close election, Minnesota's election system continues to be trusted and respected nationally as fair, accurate and transparent. Many say that's because The UpTake broadcast every second of the recount and the election contest trial. The UpTake was the only media to do this. We also put the entire video archive on line making it very hard to dispute what happened.
We need your help to keep the UpTake going. This Tuesday Give M-N dot org is going to partially match all donations to The UpTake Institute which trains Citizen Journalists.
Our goal is five thousand dollars. While that might just pay for the coffee at places like Public Radio, for us that pays for tapes, cameras and important support services for our citizen journalists.
Help us reach our goal. This Tuesday go to Give M-N dot org and make a tax-deductible donation to The UpTake Institute and have your donation partially matched. Again that's Give M-N dot org and donate to The UpTake institute .
