I watched Jon Stewarts interview with Lou Dobbs and, while Stewart did correct Dobb's dishonest points in some places, he didn't correct Dobb's biggest lie, namely that the Obama Administration, or the Democrats for that matter, are governing from the "far left".
Lets face it; there isn't even a mildly left party with any power in this country. The Democrats and the Republicans represent the business interests in this country only. Let's review 2 of Obama's and the Democrats biggest policies thus far and see if we can spot and "Left" leaning governance so far
- TARP - Like the Bush administration, Obama decided that, when given a choice between bailing out Wall Street or Main Street, Wall Street comes first. He appointed none other then Geithner and Summers to be his main financial deputies. These two people should not be given power, but instead put in handcuffs. Given the treasury’s money, what did the Banks do? They used it to double down on their bets and made tons more cash (interest free) with which to give themselves huge Bonuses.
Score:
Wall Street: 1
Working people: 0
- Health care reform - Before Congress even started working on Health care reform, the Obama Administration made a back room deal with Pharma pledging that if Pharma didn't fight the Administration, they would be safe from Obama's and the Democrats pledge to the voters to change the sweet deal they had in Medicare part D, in which they named their price and the government couldn't use their huge buying power to negotiate. In Congress, it looks like the Democrats are going to force people to buy Health Insurance from Corporations with no laws to regulate prices or no alterative from the government. If you look at the current public option in the Senate bill, you will see that it's a ruse . This is assuming that the Democrats can even get this passed through with majorities in both the house and Senate.
So in the end, it looks like what we will have is a bill that forces millions of Americans to buy shitty Health insurance from big Corporations who can raise their rates as they please.

Wall Street: 2
Pharma: 1

So, I ask, where's the "Left leaning" ideology in these policies Lou??
If there is any "Socialism" in this, it is Corporate Socialism.
Update: Ok, OK, Stewart didn't "agree" with Dobbs. Point taken. I corrected the wording.
