There are many large non-profits boasting millions of dollars in revenue serving thousands and thousands of constituents. There are also thousands of smaller non-profits fighting just to survive. I know from personal experience. The National Youth Rights Association ("NYRA") is a youth-led non-profit empowering young people to work in defense of their own civil rights.
Pound-for-pound NYRA is one of the most effective and efficient organizations in the country. With a small budget it has made dozens of national media appearances, changed dozens of laws and business policies that negatively impact youth, and empowered hundreds of young people to stand up, speak out, and take action.
I have worked with NYRA for a decade. It has more than doubled its donations over the last few years, but still operates off of a shoestring budget. We hope to change that.
JP Morgan Chase is sponsoring a community giving contest on Facebook. Individual Facebook users simply vote for their favorite non-profit (NO donation required!). In the first round, the top 100 organizations receive $25,000. The winner of the second round gets $1,000,000. For small non-profits like NYRA, $25,000 is HUGE! Please help us out by voting for us
here.
In order to increase our chances of winning NYRA has partnered with several organizations. NYRA encourages its supporters to vote for the organizations below and these organizations encourage their supporters to vote for NYRA.
ANY Facebook user can vote in this contest. And each user has 20 votes, so spread your votes around. Please consider voting for all of these worthy organizations (especially NYRA).
