How dare Al Franken trick those nasty old Republicans into voting against an amendment to crack down on rape of employees of military contractors?
How dare the people on the left accuse Republican politicians of being rapist sympathizers?

"Trying to tap into the natural sympathy that we have for this victim of this rape --and use that as a justification to frankly misrepresent and embarrass his colleagues, I don't think it's a very constructive thing," Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said in an interview.
...
"I don't know what his motivation was for taking us on, but I would hope that we won't see a lot of Daily Kos-inspired amendments in the future coming from him," said South Dakota Sen. John Thune, No. 4 in the Senate Republican leadership. "I think hopefully he'll settle down and do kind of the serious work of legislating that's important to Minnesota
Let's see if I have this clear....what was Al Franken's motivation for "taking us on"? Could it possibly be, Sen. Thune, that Senator Franken doesn't believe that it's fair to a woman to be raped and not have a choice as to whether she can complain, file a complaint, file a lawsuit, or whatever....just because her company rules say she can't?
Uh, perhaps you want to re-think your vote, Sen. Thune? Sorry, too late, you did something stupid...accept responsibility and move along.
As for the "Daily Kos-inspired amendments", oh my, you over estimate us.
While many of us here wish we'd have thought of that amendment, I'm afraid that Sen. Franken gets full credit.
As for you Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Franken does not have to try to embarrass you, you've done quite the good job, all by yourself.
