As always, coming to you from Uptown Houston. Yesterday, while sipping my Sumatra, I came across Norbrook's diary "Don't Mess With the Pootie People" and Other Unofficial Rules and it gave me pause.
I've been posting on DKos for over a year, and while I've written many strong political pieces, I've recently wondered if my Videos for Kossacks diaries were quite right for DKos, despite some of the positive feedback and generally friendly responses I've received. So I am relieved to learn that, yes indeed, folks around here need a break from the political advocacy, and genuinely take comfort in the "politics-free zones." I have enjoyed sharing my videos with you, my fellow Kossacks, and I've also enjoyed seeing what videos you've come across out on teh interwebz.
So please, take a break from Health Care, Lieberman, Dean, climate change, etc., and enjoy these clips. Remember to comment/rate it even if you hate it
From the excellent diary by by Norbrook:
While this website is principally devoted to political commentary, and and in particular Democratic and progressive causes, it's developed it's own set of communities within the larger community. People here have a number of interests outside of politics, and they will on occasion write a diary about those interests. Others who share that interest may join in, contributing their own diaries on the subject and before long you have a regular feature that has taken on a life of its own. That's why we have the WHEE (Weight, Health, Eating and Exercise) series , the GUS (giving up smoking) series, the "What's for Dinner" (recipes) series, the Bookflurries series (book discussion), the Pootie & Woozle (cats and dogs) series, and others I've not mentioned [Videos for Kossacks!]. Notice something? They have nothing to do with political advocacy. For the most part, they're considered "politics-free zones." All of them have a constituency here, and while their members may be regular diarists on the political issues of the day and make numerous comments in other diaries, they don't do it there.
[They]are now a part of what gives this site the richness and diversity it has, and they're not going away. They serve as a break from the political arguments, a stress-reliever, and help build community among users. Who knows, but someday you may suddenly be hoping for a pootie diary, just to relieve the stress - and the next thing you know, you're hooked.
First up, I ask, "Do you shop for makeup made from natural ingredients? Or do you put your faith in a particular brand?" This is a commercial for the RAW - Natural Beauty cosmetics line.
The average woman applies 12 products a day to her skin, which is about 168 different chemicals. Many of these products/chemicals remain on the body all day and even all night. Skin can absorb those chemicals, which is why it is so important to use natural cosmetics
