Today's Supreme Court is arguably one of the most conservative courts (compared to the citizenry at the time) in American history. So, Conservative Values will be on display next week as the court looks set to open up corporate donations for the Republican party for 2010.
And of course, as has been made clear by Republican administration after Republican administration, Conservative Values=Corporate Values.
Legal experts and political operatives say the cases roll back campaign spending rules to the years before Watergate. The end of decades-old restrictions could unleash a torrent of negative advertisements, help cash-poor Republicans in a pivotal year... If the Supreme Court, as widely expected, rules against core elements of the existing limits, Democrats say they will try to enact new laws to reinstate the restrictions in time for the midterm elections in November.
...
Many legal experts say they expect the court to use its imminent ruling, in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, to eliminate the remaining restrictions on advertisements for or against candidates paid for by corporations
Antonin Scalia, Chief Puppet Roberts, and Thomas will all vote to remove the few barriers between the total ownership of our government by large corporations and banks.
Republicans will cheer it.
And every so-called liberal member of the court will vote against it.
Because that's what Conservative vs. Liberal Values boils down to.
So when your Republican voting neighbors and relatives try to tell you that Democrats are sellouts or just as bad as Republicans, you'll know where to point them to shut them the hell up.
