I am overwhelmed by the response my diary Helping the Victims of the Haiti Earthquake from yesterday received, both within this community and outside it. The support and the ideas that diary generated were the best of what our community represents.
That diary stayed on the Rec List for its full 24 hour lifespan, thanks to you all. I am unable this evening to put up a new diary consolidating and updating the earlier diary, and I ask for volunteers to keep up the effort to inform each other about how to help the people of Haiti.
cosmic debris has just posted Helping the Victims of the Haiti Earthquake Day 2. Please go recommend that diary as the author struggles with the html demons and contribute your ideas and prayers.
Is anyone else up to the task? You would have my eternal gratitude.
I hope the effort begun last night becomes an ongoing effort of the Daily Kos community. My earlier diary was posted in many places, as commenters and emailers informed me. The need for information about how and where to help is clear and urgent, and as we see the situation develop the proper strategy of where to place our assistance to do the most good should become clearer.
Please recommend cosmic debris' diary, and keep up the suggestions and the good wishes. Norbrook has volunteered to write a third diary, and perhaps others can volunteer in their turn.
Despite our fights and our petty concerns, the Daily Kos community is a reflection of the best in humanity in our response to people in need. You all make me more proud than I can say that I'm one of you.
