I know a lot of us are still recovering/reeling from the shock of losing Sen. Teddy Kennedy's seat to an ultra conservative. Add to that what seems like the self destruction of the Democratic Party and you think that this has got to be the worst week ever. But then the Supreme Court hands down a ruling that to me seems to effectively put Corporations in contol of our already broken (due to too much special interest money...go figure)government and you say at the top of your lungs WHAT THE HELL!?!?! I have several questions that are just blowing my mind if the answers to them are what I think they are. Please follow me?
The definition from Wikipedia of a fascism is as follows Fascism:
Fascism, pronounced /ˈfæʃɪzəm/, is a political ideology that seeks to combine radical and authoritarian nationalism with a corporatist economic system, and which is usually considered to be on the far right of the traditional left-right political spectrum.
Is that what we've really become? Is that why Fox News has been using these radical words for the last year so when we actually use it in truth it would have no meaning?
The far-right is extremely radical and they do not believe in individualism. They do not allow for individuals to make their own decisions on almost every front from gay marriage, to religion, race relations, to abortion, etc....I mean seriously...some guy in Georgia is trying to institute an all white basketball league Whites Only Bball League on top of Senator Ifanho assanine statement racial/ethnic profiling:
I'm, for one -- I know it's not politically correct to say it -- I believe in racial and ethnic profiling. I think if you're looking at people getting on an airplane and you have X amount of resources to get into it, you need to get at the targets, not my wife. And I just think it's something that should be looked into. The statement that's made, it's probably 90 percent true with some exceptions, like the Murrah federal office building in my state, Oklahoma. Those people, they were not Muslims, they were not Middle Easterners. But when you hear that not all Middle Easterners or Muslims between the age of 20 and 35 are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims or Middle Easterners between the age of 20 and 35, that's by and large true.
Did I slip and wake up in the 50's? Please someone tell me.
I mean if Corporations now have the same rights as American citizens and their spending dollars are equal to free speech...can foreign countries now come into the US and set up a Corporation (which is very easy to do) to influence policies that are in their countries best interests? If so, Osama Bin Laden has truly won by the hands of Corporate greed and democracy as we know it is over.
God, I weep and I pray for America. Please someone help me out with some answers.
