We have cases of child prostitution in this country. Even ostriches that bury their heads in the sand know that. In Georgia there is a bill pending in the legislature that
steer young girls under the age of 16 into diversionary programs instead of arresting them on charges of prostitution.
.
What can be more logical than this?
Well, guess who is against the bill?
The usual suspects are picked up below the fold.
Imagine this. A 16 year old (or under) girl or boy working as a prostitute. One of the most horrible nightmares any parent can have.
The most horrible situation any child can face.
Until now these victims (remember - 16 years old and younger) are arrested and being put through the grinder of the criminal legal system.
The felony stain will remain with them forever. Chances of getting a better break in life fade with every arrest.
And they are the VICTIM for crying out loud!
They are victims of rape, sexual abuse and molestation.
Now Comes a Georgia lawmaker Renee Unterman and authors a bill that will give the system a choice of steering young girls under the age of 16 into diversionary programs instead of arresting them on charges of prostitution.
And who comes out against such a measure?
The Christian so called "right".
Here is the link to the AJC report
Their "reasoning"? That this will legalize(!!!!) prostitution!
"Decriminalizing that means the police would have absolutely no interest in it at all," said Sue Ella Deadwyler, who writes a Christian conservative newsletter. "They wouldn’t arrest the girls, they wouldn’t pick the girls up, they wouldn’t protect them from influence on the street from the pimps and the johns. It would be an absolute cultural upheaval in our state. Never in the United States, as far as I known, has juvenile prostitution been legalized."
What? Who said that? Since when putting a troubled kid under the age of 16 in a diversionary program means legalization?
After all, adult having sex with a minor is already illegal by default!
How fucked up can these people be? How cruel and monstrous sense of twisted morality do these people have?
Should we remind them of some guy named, Oh I don't know, Jesus. Should we remind them about the case of the woman accused of adultery?
"And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto Him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the Law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest Thou?"
"This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him."
"But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground."
"And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst."
"When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?"
"She said, No man, Lord."
"And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."
John 8:2-11 KJV
So I have only three letters to say:
WTF????
Maybe the ministers of the Christian Wrong are afraid that if this bill will be able to save the young boys and girls from life on the street - Thier ministers (Like Saint Ted Haggard) might find it harder to find outlets for their unrequited passions....
update:
For some strange reason I thought that the term Christian "Wrong" is a word play on the so called "Christian Right". However some people here think that this is an attack on all Christians. Nothing can be further from the truth.
I had no intention of offending the entire Christian religion over this issue and I even quoted from scripture to show how fucked up the wingnuts position is that it even contradicts the action of Jesus himself.
