Maybe there is an unintended consequence in the Supreme Court decision that allows corporations individual rights?
Ever since the Supreme Court ruled on Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, I started thinking about the individual rights that corporations now enjoy. Maybe there is something in that ruling that might benefit the public??
I am thinking of CEO's going to jail for murder, manslaughter, etc. Before this ruling, when corporate America puts its profits over the people, the most that would happen would be the company would pay a fine or maybe pay out money in lawsuits to the relatives of the deceased and that would be about it. No one could go to jail because they weren't a "person" and the "corporation" would pay the piper.
Think about Toyota right now. Memos prove that "they" knew that there was a problem and they did nothing for over two years. How many people died because of that stuck gas pedal? Of course, there are THOUSANDS of companies like Toyota out there that put $$ over us.
I have watched enough episodes of Law and Order to know what depraved indifference is. Don't you think every single one of them should be handcuffed and perp walked?
