For Anaheim to Los Angeles corridor, creating thousands of jobs in the process. No coverage on the MSM of this, because, you know, it creates jobs. Even the Governator is pleased about this award, and this is in addition ot the HSR that will be built from Reno to Anaheim(that one still has not been awarded yet).
Here is the Governor of Cali's response:

Now, Join me over the jump for discussion and several articles to ponder through:
This HSR was more than a decade in the making. The 800 mile corridor is forecast to carry more than 55 million passengers by 2030. The maximum speed will be 200 mph, WOW!
It will create, now get this, 160,000 jobs... I think the VEEP needs to go out there and make an apparance. That would be good politics.
Here is a Fact sheet Article:

This will also reduce 12 billion pounds of CO2 per year. Fantastic! This should tell private companies to get the ball rolling on these trains all over the country. LETS hope.
Here is a map the proposed HSR corridor's in the U.S. (note: I do not see the Nevada HSR on this map, might have been canceled due to Reid's involvement).
