I'm not a big diary writer and though this could be considered hearsay considering the source(s), I found it interesting for two reasons and thought I'd point it out just for those who like to keep track of such things.
So here goes...
Huffington Post has a "flashback" post originally dated 10/27/09 involving Levi Palin talking about Palin calling Trig her little "retarded baby"
To which Palin apparently responded, covered here by ABCNews' The Note (10/28/2009)
...
"Trig is our 'blessed little angel' who knows it and is lovingly called that every day of his life. Even the thought that anyone would refer to Trig by any disparaging name is sickening and sad."
As a parent myself, I've called my children "cute" names or pet names throughout their early childhood that I wouldn't necessarily call them in public in front of a stranger due to societal niceties and such, but I could totally see someone making the best light of a less-than-ideal situation by using language that may otherwise offend someone.
Anyways...the article continues...
Palin also attacks CBS, which aired the first part of an interview with Johnston on "The Early Show" this morning.
"CBS should be ashamed for continually providing a forum to propagate lies. Consider the source of the most recent attention-getting lies -- those who would sell their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention," Palin says in the statement.
While this diary has more to do with Palin's Retard-gate story, when I came across this, I had to stop and point it out in a "Huh - you don't say?!" moment since it's just a glaring example of Palin's hypocrisy. If she truly feels there is no need to listen to people (like Levi) whom sell their body for money, shouldn't she feel the same way about Scott Brown?
Yet the article continues...
Also in the interview, Johnston expanded on an allegation he made in an interview with Vanity Fair, that Palin regularly refers to her youngest child, Trig, as "retarded" -- a charge Sarah Palin denies. Trig Palin has Down syndrome.
"I was just in shock for the first time I heard it," Johnston told CBS. "And then she'd say it regularly. And I think she was joking, but it doesn't make it right."
This is an allegation made against Sarah (by Levi, take that however you will) last year about her calling her own child retarded. I could see her doing it in a "cute little oopsie-whoopsie" manner.
Yet doesn't that sound just like something Palin would do? It's OK for her to do it, it's OK for Rush to do it (because it's satire, of course) but if a political enemy or anybody else she doesn't like or agree with does it, Sarah goes right for the double standard exploit.
Typical.
