Oprah was one of the first people I heard say that "it felt good" when she spoke of her being molested at the age of 9.
I once opined this, even though I had noted that I was speaking as a survivor. I was attacked and people wanted to HR me or being offensive. Triciawyse came to my defense.
Here's the dKos history: http://www.dailykos.com/...
Yesterday, I watched the Oprah Show TWICE; once at 9 AM.M. AND the re-broadcast on ABC at 11:05 P.M. Because I wanted to make sure I heard what I heard.
Molesters agreed that the best way to stop a sex predator was for others to be responsible. Yes. Others shared the blame. Molestors always have an excuse. They were abused. They were under the influence of drugs/alcohol. They were off their meds. They had personal problems. The child was coming-on to them.
Someone was going to have a relationship with the child, it might as well have been them. It's not thier fault. I'm tired and sick of the excuses sex predators make.
I have this debate often. I'm not well enough to have this debate today. So I'll just leave it to whomever has the strength to engage in this today, because it was on the Oprah Show yesterday.
I am a survivor of sexual seduction by a priest. The Archdiocese pays for my therapist. I always felt that God did not love me. If he loved me, why did this happen? If the priest was good, was I evil for telling?
I have had my life stolen from me. The fear, the shame, the inability to communicate, make lasting relationships, to trust, anyone outside of my immediate family, have made me a recluse. I just don't trust anyone anymore.
I have attracted strange people to me, all my life. I have led an intereting life.
In politics, I discovered that at the very top, there's alot of pedophilia going on. From both men AND women. The recent rehabilitation of comic Paula Poundstone, who once was accused of sexual abuse of her children, has reminded me that not only men take liberties with children. From my childhood I recall my favorite science fiction writer, Arthur C. Clarke, who wrote 2001: A Space Odyssey was accused of child molestatio in his native Englang. The charges were dropped if he left the country. He moved to Ceylon, now known as Sri Lanka. The constabulary in Ceylon were less critical. Time has cleansed his image. http://en.wikipedia.org/...
In Thailand, the country's constitition was in part written by Rene Guyon, a disgraced French jurist who was given the option of either prison or expatriate. I know a great deal about Guyon, most of it has not been entered into the Wiki, for the obvious reasons. Guyon's writings are odious to survivors. http://en.wikipedia.org/...
There's a slew of writings in defense of pedophilia. I'm too sick today, to go about referencing them.
I'll check this later, if and when I feel better. I get physically ill when I hear about paedophilia. Others will have to fight the good fight, if they care, for their children. I don't have the strength. Many of those who claim to be working to protect the children from becoming sexual objects, are themselves predators. That's the way it sometimes works. The wolf is put in charge of the henhouse - or so the antiquated saying goes. I'm tired of the fight.
I am a suvivor. I am one of the walking-dead. And I'm dead tired today.
