I don't intend to follow the HCR debate as more knowledgeable Kossacks will deal with the details.
This diary is more of a commentary on their behaviour after watching the republicans in action for a number of years.
This conclusion was reached after watching yesterday's 'debate' in all its glory.
Its not so much the Party of 'No' as the party of negativity, they know the system is broken however:
1] They merely quibble about any proposal to change the status quo and try to put all proposals in a negative light.
2] Whether in power or not they lack the moral fortitude to propose anything of use to put the system right. Obama called them out on this when referencing Medicare.
They have only two methods of legislation
1] Tax cuts, since everyone likes the idea of paying less taxes, however these just blow up the deficit of which they so often whine.
2] Feeding the corporations by reducing oversight and harping on about free trade as outsourcing blows up the deficit even more.
The Party that brought us Reaganomics are world champion hand-wringers and totally useless when asked what to do in a crisis.
I having nothing against saying no, however when I say no [and it is quite often in my business] I justify why, and then propose something concrete.
Whatever they do either they don't care about the consequences or just have not thought it through. They never want to pay the bill for their actions.
They deny the problems and then try to prevent anyone solving the underlying crises they leave behind, all the while whinging about the crisis.
They left two wars, a plunging Medicare and health care system, reduced constitutional rights, stupid security legislation, and a tax hole a mile wide. They even experimented with a unitary executive, giving us torture. Then they have the utter gall to hold everyone else responsible.
They complain yet lack the courage to do anything that might help, the easy road of tax cuts and deregulation is all they have.
If only they would just say no.
rather than trying to convince me we are:
1] The greatest country on earth, how the hell you have the gall to spout such childish nationalist drivel is beyond me.
2] Have the best health care system on the planet, well you may but globally #37 is not first.
3] We are a shining example to the rest of the world, I think that just means we have the biggest stick.
4] The minority party should govern except when republicans are in the majority.
5] Trample on any social minority you feel threatened by, and then wave at us some dubious moral reasons for so doing.
6] America is a faux-Christian country, I suggest you reread your bible and learn from it.
On this all I have to say is:
Bullshit, and if you believe the crap you are peddling more fool you.
Anyone who votes for these moral cowards is either being disingenuous or really doesn't have a clue.
Personally I know liars and cowards when I see them, and yes congresscritters of the GOP I am looking at you and your erstwhile allies the Blue-dog Dems.
If all you can do is whinge and whine then I would suggest you have no place in America, or at least the America I was taught to respect.
I will never vote for a Republican again, Jeffords will remain my exception which proves the rule.
Some may argue there are good republicans, I would argue there are better alternatives at all levels.
The Democratic Party may at times look useless, but at least they try, they are all we have at the present so they have my reluctant support.
