A bill is going to be presented in Florida by representative/ bishop minister Charles Van Zant. The bill would criminalize all forms of abortion, even ones that include a rape victim or incest. The abortion providers would be presented with first degree felony charges and could serve for life.
He stated that his intention with this bill is not merely to end abortion in Florida, but to end it for the entire nation. He stated that, "We wrote it because we expect it to be challenged in court," Van Zant said of the bill. "The Roe v. Wade decision is unconstitutional -- not this bill." His expectation is to bring this Florida law to the US Supreme Court, in order to have a new decision on Roe v Wade.
The following is an open letter that I wrote to Charles Van Zant...
Dear Representative Charles Van Zant,
Although we have differing perspectives on whether abortion should be legalized, I would like to appeal to you on another fundamental aspect of abortion. I expect the reason that we don't agree on abortion is because you are convinced that a fetus, even in the earliest of stages of pregnancy is a human life, while I only think it is a potential human life. Perhaps this fundamental difference in our perspectives is irrevocable, therefore you will still continue with your perspectives and I with mine. However, I would like to petition you on a different manner, not to fear monger or insinuate that you lack concern for the lives I am about to mention, but to make certain you are making your decision on every aspect of illegalizing abortion. The manner in question is the countless women who will take the risk of an illegal abortion.
As you are probably aware forty percent of women in the US have an abortion in their lifetime (eMedicineHealth). Nearly half of the women in this nation make the decision to abort, and undoubtedly some of these women would have attempted an illegal and unsafe abortion if it weren’t legalized. How do I know this? Not considering that women have admitted to me that they would take the risk of an illegal abortion if they were pregnant, but the US and World has a long account of statistics on illegal abortions. EMedicineHealth gave a statistic that 13% of the deaths of women in the world are caused from having an illegal abortion. I would presume that if abortion were illegal in America that would mean that 13% of women would take this risk each year and die in the process. This statistic would also mean that a significantly higher number of women would be having an illegal abortion and live.
For me these women that die each year are the reason that I am incapable of telling another woman that she can’t have the right to choose. I know you and I fundamentally differ on our perspectives of abortion, you think it is murder and I think it is just a woman making a private decision. However I do want you to consider what would happen if abortion were illegal, and hopefully this will lead you to support some forms of abortions in earlier stages of pregnancy.

If you agree that abortion should remain legal in the US then I implore you to go to the following link and write a letter to Charles Zant.
