This announcement is all over Colorado:
A preschool student at a Catholic school in Boulder will not be allowed to return next school year because the student's parents are two women and the Denver Archdiocese says their homosexual relationship violates the school's beliefs and policy.
While I believe in freedom of religion and the abililty of churches to decide who enters their schools based upon whatever religious criteria they like, This is simply ludicrous.
More after the fold.
In addition to taking this disgusting action against a pre-schooler, the chruch made the following statement:
In a statement sent to 9NEWS, the Archdiocese said, "No person shall be admitted as a student in any Catholic school unless that person and his/her parent(s) subscribe to the school's philosophy and agree to abide by the educational policies and regulations of the school and Archdiocese," the statement said.
In this case, it has been reported that the school's rules provide that all parents must follow Catholic teachings.
Frankly, this is just funny as hell. I am assuming now that all Catholic schools in the Denver Archdiocese will be closing after the end of the year. If you take out all the children of women who had an abortion, either parent who is pro-choice or even supports abortion in cases of rape or incest, or any couple that is currently using birth-control, either temporary or permanent or for that matter, any student who has had pre-marital sec, there will be no one else left eligible to attend their schools.
Public schools will be very happy for this as the Catholic High Schools in town have been stealing good students and good athletes from the public schools forever.
All I can do is say to Rev. Chaput, either you are a bigger hypocrite than I thought, and I thought you were pretty big, or you're going to have some 'splain' to do to your big donors and the parents and students at your Catholic schools.
Finally, from a theological school of thought, even if you believe that homosexuality is a sin (and as a practicing devout Christian I do not), ISN'T THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH TO BRING PEOPLE TO GOD??? Do you numbskulls really think kicking a pre-schooler out of school because of what his parents are is going to bring anyone to Christ????
