There is no way Stupack votes no! Why you ask?
#1 He will lose his seat
#2 He will be an outcast among many whose friendship in DC he craves and need. Such as John Dingell for starters.
#3 The Union money he survives on for election funding will all but dry up.
#4 Some of the consultants he uses will be unavailable at the request and insistence of the Unions.
#5 He will look like an ass who attempted to blow up health care as opposed to taking the "deal." and looking principled and being able to act as a major player instead of a major pain in the ass.
So what happened.
As a constituent of his, and having had a front seat during his initial run for Congress, he simply overplayed his hand.
He knew he was not going to get what he wanted so the Speaker's office, and some sympathetic pols in Congress, helped him walk back so he would be in a slightly better position to survive his primary in August. After all he is a 9 term congressman.
Having said that he will be in for the run of his life. He neeeded to walk back because if you look at he FEC reports a majority of his funds come from PAC 's, especially organized labor. As foolish an egocentric as Bart is he knew he would be really at a disadvantage had labor walked away from him. He in not going to go back to being a country lawyer in Memominee MI. He is not going to give up his perks, his $174,000 a year salary, and his chance to see his name in print or his mug on TV..he is the quintessential conceited pol.
HE SIMPLY MADE THE BEST DEAL FOR BART NOT ordinary citizens.
