They've been calling me, emailing me, mailing me...they've been asking for my money for over a year.
My answer...beneath the fold...
Yep, I told them, I wouldn't give them a penny. I told them I voted for them to bring health care reform. For a year, they asked for money, and for a year I said, when reform comes, so will the money.
Well, with Stupak's announcement, we know it's pretty much a done deal. As much as I dislike Stupak, he's voting for HCR. As much as Kuchinich held out against this imperfect bill, he's voting for HCR.
The Republican's targeted this as Obama's Waterloo and they have been as united as ever to serve the interests of the rich, well connected and the corporatists who still control much of the power in this country.
This vote gives me hope, but I still temper it with my usual pragmatism. I still believe we need campaign finance reform if we want to see real change, but for now, I am satisfied. The Democrats have FINALLY delivered, and this is just the beginning.
NOW is the time to give money, and I'm doing it tomorrow, after the President signs this bill into law later today.
