I am a volunteer for the Campaign of Jim Holbert, who is running for Kentucky's fifth congressional district, and I wanted to make a shout to the community here to try and bring recognition and support both in efforts and money to his campaign.
If you can give anything at all to help, please do so through ActBlue HERE.
Last night I sat glued to the television, watching the House vote on passage of the health care bill. First I did CNN, which did it's usual "let's talk now or take a break as democrats talk" like they did with the Televised health care forum.
As a nurse, I was so happy watching it all unfold, rolling my eyes at Boehner's attempts to slow things down and constant whining. And like most of you, I was not surprised to see no Republicans vote for the bill. This is what Hal does, and this being one of the poorest districts in Kentucky, leaves us with him doing what he wants with his possible opponents at a severe disadvantage. Hal gets plenty money from non-Kentuckians, defense industries, you know. But as I pointed out previously, even that has decreased by nearly half. I see people help out in other campaigns every day, in states not their own. And I too help, as much as I can.
When last I looked, our progressive challenger had gotten $50 from ActBlue. Yes, Just $50 dollars. Most don't know who the democrats are on the ticket this year, I have found out by doing this. That needs to change, primaries are in May, and republicans on defense distracts their efforts.
Holbert, unlike Hal, has said he is a proponent of Single payer, ending the wars, against mountaintop removal & for voting machines with paper trails. Don't expect to find that out of Hal Rogers.
Any help you can give, either By financial contribution, which you can do through ActBlue HERE, or by adding him and suggesting him to your facebook friends, is appreciated. With a little financial support, we can get some signs out there, and maybe some air time. Just don't let me wake up to see he's still lingering at $100 bucks total and just $50 from Act Blue, it's getting depressing!
Best to all!
