There was not much news on President Obama's meeting with Israel's Prime Minister. There has been speculation that Obama was angry with Israel's announcement of settlement expansion when Vice President Biden visited Israel. Netanyahu did not receive the standard red carpet arrival that a close ally would receive. There was no press conference, dinner, photos, or other high profile greeting.
Apparently President Obama's meeting with Israel Binyamin Netanyahu was quite contentious. If true there is no surprise that there has been a media blackout on the story.
According to the UK Times President Obama was hard on the Israeli Prime Minister. He was not the naive, weak, "why can't we be friends" person that the Republicans and the media love to characterize Obama as. He was a tough negotiator.
The President left the Prime Minister to his own devices allegedly saying "I’m still around. Let me know if there is anything new." This was after the Prime Minister did not want to claim responsibility for the settlement announcements that occurred when Biden visited Israel and again the day the Prime Minister was going to meet with the President.
If this is true it is going to be interesting to see who will blink first, will the settlement be halted, and will there finally be peace between Israel and Palestine.
