A friend of mine in the Richmond Call Center got ahold of the transcript of Eric Cantor's 911 call following the shooting at his campaign office. I don't have the audio yet - I don't think my friend will be able to get it. Maybe someone can use the Freedom of Information Act to get it.
This is hot stuff that the liberal media is afraid to publish.
Transcript follows in its entirety:
Richmond 911 Call Center
[start of call – 3/23/2010 07:50EDT Operator #: 476 Supervisor # 541]
Operator: 911 – What is your emergency?
Caller: Help, someone has shot a bullet through my office!
Operator: What is the address?
Caller: 25 East Main Street in Richmond.
Operator: O.K. Is the gunfire continuing?
Caller: No.
Operator: O.K. Is anyone hurt?
Caller: I don’t know – I have a very large staff here.
Operator: Do you know how many shots were fired into your office?
Caller: No. At least one...
Operator: What type of business was targeted?
Caller: It’s my campaign office in Richmond. I’m Eric Cantor, Congressman from Virginia’s 7th District.
Operator: O.K. So it’s a campaign office in your district?
Caller: Yep.
Operator: O.K. Do you know who might have done this?
Caller: I am sure it was some crazy liberal socialist upset with my stance on healthcare. Being the number two republican in Congress I have a very high profile and one of these crazies probably sought out my office to try to scare me. And I am Jewish and you know they hate that a republican could be Jewish.
Operator: O.K. we have a patrol car on its way to 25 East Main St. Your incident number is 7878652. Before I close the incident report I need you to swear that the report you have submitted is true and that you may be subject to felony charges if there are material misrepresentations.
Caller: Oh, oh, um (unintellible)... I can’t do that.
Operator: Why not?
Caller: Um, oh, you know...
Operator: Did you want to change any of the items you reported?
Caller: Well maybe...
Operator: O.K. What did you want to change?
Caller: Well, ... the office is not really in my congressional district. It’s actually in the 3rd District.
Operator: O.K. Anything else?
Caller: Well, ... I don’t really have a large staff there; just a few folks use it. And no one was in the office that early in the morning.
Operator: O.K. Anything else?
Caller: Well, ... I don’t really know who might have done this because there is no way anyone would have known this was my office. We don’t have a sign outside and we don’t publicize the address. It’s kind of a secret office, if you know what I mean.
Operator: O.K. Anything else?
Caller: Well, ... the bullet really didn’t hit my office on the second floor. It hit the window of the office below me.
Operator: O.K. Anything else?
Caller: Well, ... the bullet wasn’t really shot through the window. It just kinda dropped from the sky and happened to fall into the window. It did not penetrate the blinds.
Operator: O.K. Anything else?
Caller: Well, ... it is true that I am Jewish.
Operator: O.K. Anything else?
Caller: Umm, no.
Operator: O.K., so let me see if I have this right. A bullet was randomly fired into the air and fell to earth breaking the window of the office below yours but not striking anything in the office. Your office is not marked on the outside of the building and you don’t publicize its location because it’s really kind of secret. There was no one in your office when the incident occurred. You don’t know who could have done this. You are Jewish.
Is that correct?
Caller: Well, ummm I think so. You know it’s very hard for me to say yes. All I really know is how to say no. Or even hell no!
Operator: O.K. – I am just going to put this down that the only fact you will agree with about the incident is that you are Jewish.
Again, your incident number is 7878652 and you will need to refer to that if you call in with any more details.
Goodbye.
[end of call]
