Rachel Maddow took out a full-page ad this week in the Boston Globe, telling Sen. Scott Brown, R-MA, to stop claiming that she is running against him for office.
Brown’s ploy is an obvious attempt to squeeze cash out of his chronically gullible base--and I wish Rachel luck fighting it. But, is telling the truth the best tactic?
My modest proposal: To reach those who believe only lies, simply lie.
Just put out a story...here...I’ll even do it for her:
Washington Post
Liberal Lesbian Sues Senator
Rachel Maddow, the host of a cable program of the same name, filed a civil suit today demanding Sacha Baron Cohen stop promulgating a fabricated claim that she is running against him in his persona as Senator Scott Brown, Republican of Massachusetts.
"I think you are all missing the lead here," Maddow said during a press conference. "We just uncovered that Brown is actually Cohen. Hello?! Headlines maybe?! Hello?!"
Maddow, an avowed lesbian, works for MSNBC.
Brown strenuously denied the charge, although his campaign manager, who also happens to be Cohen’s producer, was more equivocal.
"Look, Sacha-- I mean Scott--never breaks character. Talk to us after the release date. As for now, just let me say, it’s sort of like Zoolander meets Mr. Smith Does Washington."
When Brown was asked to explain the Zoolander reference, he shrugged, sayiing, "So I was a former male model who posed nude and owned pink leather hotpants. Does that make me a bad Republican? Want to ride my truck?"
Brown is currently planning a "take back America" nationwide tour, during which he will urge patriotic citizens to voluntarily raise their own health insurance fees 40% a year, and cancel their own health care when they get sick.
"We have to show the insurance companies that we love and serve them," Brown said. "Want to touch my monkey?"
