I can't take it any longer. I have to vent on this issue before my head implodes. How many of you guys have to deal with comments by co-workers in your workplace that are nothing more than the rantings of people who know nothing about policy and politics? I work around a bunch of politically ignorant people who are nothing more than Beck-inspired mouthpieces. with all of the fervor surrounding healthcare I expected the issue of politics to rear its head at one sooner or later in my work place and recently it did.
So I'm on my way out the door as shift change is happening and three of my co-workers decide to have a conversation about the current polotical climate. One of them talks about how the government owns everything now:car companies, banks, and something about healthcare(I know, I know it doesn't make sense!). This person continues own and says how due to the government getting involved in the aforementioned sectors, the country isn't a democracy anymore(I know, I know. Some people truly think democracy and capitalism are one and the same). From here on it gets better.
The second person says Germany is looking good as an alternative to living in the U.S. as they had traveled there recently and enjoyed it(Yes, a socialist country like Germany is looking very good this time of year -- if you don't know frick about German society, which this person obviously does not). The third person, a loudmouth who goes on and on about his dislike of Obama policies is of Italian heritage(If the relevance of that escapes you, I bring up is ancestry because it always kills me to see Italian or Irish people align themselves with the current form of conservatism. I just assume they have no knowledge of their peoples history, but if they go to certain corners of America they can find people who will all to willingly tell them that they are not truly "white").
Soon after the conversation ended and I was out the door. We have a rather strictly controlled environment at my work place and employees have been discouraged from discussing politics in the past, and that is a good thing in my case. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me, but when I have to put up with so-called opinions that are based on ignorance. I think I'll see about getting the higher ups at my work place to send out a friendly reminder to keep politics( and foolishness) out of the office.
How about you? Got any annoying conserva-drone co-workers whose constant bleating drive you nuts?
Discuss( or not).
