Subtitle: Already Commented; Please Delete
Because I can subtitle. And we should all be able to subtitle. And why can’t we? What is WRONG with this site that we cannot add subtitles?
But I digress: the problem with Daily Kos is the comments. They should be eliminated. Nobody needs comments and they are damaging to our site, to the Democratic Party and to freedom as we know it.
You read it here first. You know you wanted to read it. You know you believe it. EMBRACE IT.
The comments are leading to our next catastrophe in the Senate, the House, the State Legislatures. We are doomed, because of the comments.
More on the "Comments."
Whose idea was this "commenting" thing? Who cares what you/your mother/your cat thinks? Who cares what anyone thinks? And, OMG, who cares about the update on your pootie cat learning the ins-and-outs of the cat box? Is your cat a Republican? If not, why?
As for the comments about your cat, this, simply:
I don’t. Strike that. Nobody does.
In the original days, the days of our Daily Kos Founders, the days when four-digit UIDs meant something -- the pre-pootie days, if you will, the days when this site had integrity and meant something -- THE DAYS WHEN IT WAS PUT TOGETHER WITH MOVABLE TYPE AND MAILED -- that was something.
Original Daily Kos mailroom:
Well, something was something. Because it was. And it was mailed.
It meant something. We meant something. We meant a lot of things. We were standing for something and many things and other things, too. We stood up for them (or not). But we were there. And here. (Or not.)
Today? Not so much.
NOW: We have too many comments.
We have comments agreeing and disagreeing -- like OMG? Agree? Disagree? Take it elsewhere? Send it to RedState? HR it into oblivion? THIS IS WHO WE ARE? This is what we have become?
Commenting: Why?
We have comments here with CAT PICTURES. Yup -- photographs of CATS. On a blog dedicated to electing Democrats. WTF? CAT PICTURES?
We have comments here DISAGREEING with other commenters. Shouldn’t we all comment harmoniously and together? And why are commenters here disagreeing with stuff? Are they just disagreeable? And, if so, should we tolerate their disagreeableness? HERE?
If YOU must comment, please comment appropriately. (Although those of us in the heart of the REAL ORANGE would seriously prefer that you kept your thoughts to yourselves. I mean: REALLY -- we do not care.)
And, on this day, at this hour, at this singular moment in history, this: Comments are destroying Daily Kos. I said it here. I thought it best not to write a comment.
Because the comments are destroying us. And we must not let them do so.
Also.
