Whether you are a Democrat, Independent, or Republican, you have to be sick and tired of the "politics as usual" that has taken over America.
This isn't just about the typical Republicans, but it is also about the spineless Democrats as well who allow 41 Republicans to set the agenda in the Senate.
Robert Dobbs for Congress, SC-01
It is very simple to see what is wrong with Washington and its continuation of support for the corporations and special interests over the interests of the American people. The Tea Party also has it wrong and really should be after most of the Members of Congress, who seem to capitualate to their corporate masters daily.
Unemployment Extension
Let's start with the unemployment extension. The Senate gave up and went on "Easter Break" without passing anything to help the millions of Americans, who through no fault of their own lost their jobs. This isn't only the fault of the Republicans but also of the spineless Democratic majority that can't get anything done even though they have 59 votes to 41 votes.
Republicans say they want the unemployment extension paid for and not be put into debt. Really, what about the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? This money should have been utilized for the American people to help them, not two countries who could give a damn about America and basically want us out. If the Republicans really cared about the American workers they would not have ratified NAFTA and all of the other "Free Trade" agreements which have cost millions of American jobs. The Democrats are not without shame here either because they got on the band wagon with the Republicans and when Democrats could have stood up and taken charge, they become weak and spineless.
Health Care Reform
Americans are tired of Washington politics and the level special interests have ruined good legislation. Just look at Health Care Reform. Insurance companies now have figured out how not to cover pre-existing conditions and intend on using this loophole. So why did we need this if we get the same thing we have now; insurance companies telling us what they will cover and what they won't.
We needed the public option! The President and Democrats sold us out and we got a horrible health care bill. They should have started over and got it right from the start and if you think they will fix this forget it. Health Insurance corporations have more money than the voters and will stop or stall any changes that will effect them.
Afghanistan
As we consider the condition our economy is in, the number of dead and wounded troops in Afghanistan, the number of civilian casualties, and the likelihood that the Afghanistan conflict could be become a quagmire far worse than Iraq, it is clear that Congress must assert its authority over the President on sending 30,000 more troops at an additional cost of $30 billion. Additionally, Congress needs to impose a complete withdrawal of all U.S. forces within a year, end all military foreign aid to the Afghanistan government, and order the withdrawal of all U.S. military contractors from the country. The War in Afghanistan needs to end now!"
So why is President Obama looking pretty bad in the polls? Because he turned his back on his promises and nestled up to the corporations, just like the rest of the gang in Washington. President Obama was elected upon the idea of change and representing the people, but I guess that was just the typical double talk we get out of Washington.
So what do we get in the end? A lousy health care bill that lines the pockets of the health insurance industry, we get to continue to lose lives and money in Afghanistan, and we get no real financial reform.
In the end America got change, we got the same act just a different actor.
I really believed in President Obama but now I feel quite different about him and so do many Americans.
