Looks like President Obama is hitting his stride in his presidency. Stabilizing the economy, making the tough, but often criticized decisions needed to steer our ship of state out of the abyss, health care reform (as messy as it was, its done!), restored diplomacy, trying to make the best decisions with two poorly executed wars handed to him, an exciting new direction for NASA, protecting LGBT partner's rights to access each other in hospitals, and now trying to bring Financial Reform into the win column.
Well today, Happy President Obama learned how to putt bring down the Presidential hammer to get things done. Uh-oh!!!
More below the fold.
Talking about backing someone into a corner.
President Obama held a press conference before convening a live-streamed meeting with this Economic Recovery Advisory Board.
And WHAM! Right across the jaw of any senator who thinks they will oppose or water down Financial Reform, you were just given your Presidential memorandum notice. Diplomatically of course.
President Obama:
So in the coming weeks, every member of Congress is going to have to make a decision: Are they going to side with the special interests and the status quo, or are they going to side with the American people? And anyone who opposes this reform is going to be leaving taxpayers on the hook if a crisis like the one that we’ve just seen ever happens again. And I consider that unacceptable.

And if that wasn't beautiful enough, your gonna freaking love this money green quote!
Some in the industry are not happy with the prospect of these reforms. We’ve seen the usual army of lobbyists dispatched up on Capitol Hill. They have found some willing allies on the other side of the aisle in Congress who have been trying to carve out a lot of exceptions and special loopholes so that folks on Wall Street can keep making these risky bets without any oversight.
ZING! Mr. President more, more, more!!! Call out out the cock-a-roaches.
And for my "progressives" who have been bitching whining about the President's attempts at bipartisanship (you know, President of the United Blue States), this ought to make you just tickled pink orange.
I hope that we can pass a bipartisan bill. Bipartisanship cannot mean simply allowing lobbyist-driven loopholes that put American taxpayers at risk. That would not be real reform.
The Axe did say they made a mistake thinking the republicans would put aside partisanship and work with the administration to solve the biggest crisis we've seen in scores of years decades.
I just report, you decide.
