The next time a middle-class parent who is/was supportive of George W Bush, expresses opposition to Obama, show them these two quotes and ask them who understands middle-class parents better - GW Bush or Obama.
President Obama : "For these families, every day is a high wire act. Everything is scheduled right down to the minute. There's no room for error. If the car breaks down, or somebody gets sick, or there's a problem at school, that begins a cascading domino effect that leaves everybody scrambling." [March 31, 2010]
President Bush (*) (to a single mom of 3 children): "You work three jobs? Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that." [Feb. 4, 2005] (**)
(*) - No, unlike some people, I don't think that Bush lost the 2000 elections. He did win it - by 5 votes to 4.
(**) - To add insult to injury, Bush followed it up with this mocking question - "You get any sleep?"
