At a Chicago Tea Party function on April 17th, Michele Bachmann insinuated that the federal government is conspiring to kill competition to our "government owned" auto industry by making up stuff about Toyota.
Below the fold, you'll find a video with some of the latest proof of this woman's disconnect with reality. She is not only not backing off of her conspiracy theories, but she is expanding and embellishing them. And now, she is insinuating that Toyota's problems are a government conspiracy to "do something about the competition" to the domestic (government-owned) auto industry...
This took place in Chicago on April 17th. For the 1st minute, she rattles off a list of opposition fund raising against her and vows to win! Then she spends two minutes explaining why Bill Clinton's calling her out for her extremist rhetoric is ridiculous in her view. She thanks the former President for calling attention to her, proof for anyone who didn't already suspect it, that she is a publicity hound and she revels in the negative publicity that her outlandish conspiracy theories bring her.
About 3 minutes into the video, she begins her litany of all of her conspiracy theories relating to the "government takeover" of the "private economy". Some highlights of that are how she purports that over half of mortgages in the U.S. today are owned by the government. She also says that over 90% of new home mortgages will be from the federal government! By her logic, the feds are going to own all of our homes before long.
OMG! Extrapolating from her explanation, I suppose that once they have the papers on all those homes, they'll start telling us who can live there. Of course, that will mean that we may be forced to share our homes with other families. Maybe immigrants! Illegal immigrants! It's the end of the world, I tells ya!
About 5:40 into the video, she starts talking about the "auto industry takeover". She goes through her whole auto industry CT, ending with her description of how Obama took over the auto companies and gave them to the unions. Then she claims that the government owns them (very confusing – is it the government or the unions? Maybe those two things are the same in Bachmann world).
The highlight of the vid comes at 6:44 in where she asks:
"Why do you think we’re hearing so much about Toyota these days? The competition. Better do something about the competition."
I'm very sorry about the title of the video. Wish I could change that!
Michele Bachmann is so delusional, she should be isolated and under 24/7 supervision. I don't think she will do any harm to herself, but because of her elected office and the platform it gives her, I truly believe that she is a danger to our country. How anyone can sit in an audience and listen to her as a credible speaker is just beyond me.
