I am just curious, isn't it illegal to be in the country illegaly?
I live in California and I have seen the true cost of living in a state overrun with illegal aliens. The local public schools where I live are 90% Spanish speaking. I cannot send my 6 year old daughter to public school so I work two jobs to pay for her private school. 9 months ago my daughter hurt her arm; we rushed to emergency room and were forced to wait 2 1/2 hours to see a doctor...the room was filled with what looked like illegal aliens (I didn't take a poll but...well very few spoke english) My car has been broken into and the police actually caught the guy (amazing, I know) he was an illegal alien.
We do hire a housekeeper from time to time and she is illegal. She does a great job and I love her. So I cannot claim to be a purist. I admit it.
That being said, I would prefer to hire an American person who needs to work. At 12 bucks an hour I would imagine I could find someone. However, It's more convenient to hire her and I get lazy.
The schools alone are reason enough for me to want every "illegal" alien out of California. I pay soooo much money in taxes, I am broke and I make over 100k per year. However for a family on 3 that's not nearly enough in CA. Now, because my local school is so fucking awful I need to pony up an extra 8K per year to send my kid to a private school. At least there the other students speak English.
I am all for immigrants. My Grandparents came to America from Croatia but they came here LEGALLY. They learned English, Croatian was banned from the house (my dad can't speak a lick) and my Grandpa fought in WW2.
There are routes to immigrate to America. However, crossing the border and breaking the law is against the rules. I understand people want a better life, I welcome them in America. Just stand in line and wait your turn. That's all I ask.
In terms of this law, if the Arizona schools are anything like LAUSD and if private schools are anywhere close to as expensive as LA private schools. I can't say that I half blame them.
Bottom line, if you are in America and you broke the law to get here...why should you get a free pass????
I don't get that logic. Sorry. I don't. I love America and the opportunity it has provided my family but we didn't break the American laws to get here.
UPDATE: If you look at the poll the numbers are split. Many lefties agree with me. Oh and if you happen to know anyone who is black and lives in South LA...ask them how illegal immigrants have changed thier community and job picture. Ask your local contractor is he likes being undercut. Ask them.
