Now THIS is a delicious little rumor/nugget...although if it's from Ambinder, it's probably true given how amazing his sources tend to be:
- Here first: Charlie Crist, soon to be independent Senate candidate from Florida, tried to reach White House chief of staff Emanuel through intermediates. WH refuses to take the call. Dems plan big talent/money blitz for Kendrick Meek.
HaHAA!
Man, he goes from trying to out-conservative Marco Rubio to vetoing a bill on behalf of a teachers union and NOW he wants Rahm to help him out?
This is just too freakin' hilarious and sad.
It's obvious that Charlie Crist never really had a place in this new, more destructive GOP. And I'm sure that the conservative blogosphere will eat this up as proof of his treachery.
But I think the White House made the smart move here: if Obama can clearly identify himself as being supportive of Meek, he actually has a shot in a three-way race. Unlike the "cw", which is almost always wrong in some crucial way, I don't think Marco Rubio is in the catbird seat, especially now that we know how much he liked his Republican Party of Florida credit card.
Anyway, I know I probably sound like a total insider, but I think this is hilarious, and somewhat indicative of why Charlie Crist never quite fit in in that party.
