Dear Daily Kos Community,
While most of America was losing its shirt during the economic meltdown, my opponent Jane Harman (CA-36) was bailing out Goldman Sachs -- without revealing her $1 million to $5 million dollar investment in the banking Goliath.
Clearly, Harman should have recused herself from the vote. In effect, she voted to bail out her own financial portfolio with billions of our tax dollars.
Let's not bail out my opponent with another two years in Congress.
Here's one of my new campaign ads:

My opponent has been a shill for Wall Street for years, having voted in 2005 for the bankruptcy bill which made it easier for banks to hike your credit card rates, punish you for medical bankruptcy and foreclose on your homes.
Now, millions of Americans are suffering as a result, with the Center for Responsible Lending estimating that 25,000 residents of my district will face foreclosure over the next four years.

We don't need to cozy up to Goldman Sachs and the big banks. We need to make sure banks do not get too big to fail. In Congress, I will work for legislation that:
** Bans banks from holding more than 10 percent of the nation's deposits
** Re-establishes walls between commercial and investment banking
** Repeals the 2005 bankruptcy bill
** Outlaws derivatives that allow financial institutions to bundle bad loans
** Bans short-selling of stock
** Establish a strong consumer watchdog agency outside the control of a privatized Federal Reserve
To keep people in their homes, property values strong, and county coffers healthy, I would support immediate legislation to:
** Give foreclosed homeowners the right to rent their homes. By keeping homes occupied, we can prevent blight. Plus, a "Right to Rent" rule would encourage banks to modify loans because it's far more difficult for banks to sell a home with renters in it.
Please support my congressional campaign by donating or phone banking. You do not have to be at our Marina del Rey headquarters to call voters in my district. Just email Bill@WinogradforCongress.com and he'll set you up with a virtual account so you can call at your convenience or join phone bankers around the country phoning on Wednesdays for Winograd.
Onward to victory,
Marcy Winograd
I'm Marcy Winograd and I'm challenging corporate Blue Dog Democrat Jane Harman in the June 8, 2010 Democratic Party primary. In 2006, when I jumped into the race just three months before the primary, I mobilized almost 38% of the vote.
