I'm not a pootie/woozle diarist, and only an occasional commenter. But I lost my woozle Guinevere today, and I feel compelled to memorialize her.
Update - Guinevere would be very happy to know she made the recommended list. Thanks to everyone who read about her and left condolences. She was such a good dog and friend.
Second update - Several commenters have recommended shelters or rescue sites. I check out Pug Rescue San Diego County to look at available dogs from time to time. It's too soon to think about another pug (and it will be another pug) for the foreseeable future. But that's where I'll go. I'll send them a donation today.
Guinevere was an 11-year old pug with the heart of a champion, even if she didn't look it. She was an absolute princess; she barked at people and other dogs as they passed by not because she was territorial, but because she wanted them to notice her! She was wobbly in her older age; her hind legs were unsteady, and her shoulders hurt her (arthritis). Through it all, though, she was intensely loyal to me and my wife. And quite the cuddler.
Last night, she got out of the house. Within 10 minutes, she was attacked by a coyote. I found her shortly after that. The coyote didn't even bother to make a meal of her; it just killed and left.
Rest in peace, Guinevere. I'll miss you always.

PS - If you leave any tips, make them for Guinevere, not me. Thanks.
