- You can give him a birthday present today
- There are pooties in this diary
So follow me below the fold for more fun and excitement!
First...Happy Birthday Rodney!
For those that don't know already Rodney is running for US Senate in Arizona. This is a big fucking deal because IMHO this is the guy who can take out McCain once and for all (assuming of course that McCain makes it past Hayworth in the primary). Imagine... a Senator from Arizona that is actually there to represent the people of Arizona, not the lobbyists of K Street.
But see in order for Rodney to get elected, he needs to get out and visit the people of Arizona so can they can get to know him and so he can hear what they have to say about what they want their Senator to be doing. To facilitate this, Rodney's campaign has aquired a bio-diesel RV to travel around the state in.
But that RV is missing a name. So the campaign is running a contest to name the RV. First prize winner gets a free trip to Las Vegas for Netroots Nation 2010. So it's that easy...think of a great name for the RV and if you win, you get a free trip to Vegas for Netroots Nation. At the same time you are giving Rodney the birthday present of not having to travel around Arizona in a nameless RV or worse
There's always a catch though right? The catch is that today is the last day to submit a suggestion for the contest. Voting starts Monday so go...enter a name in the contest now and we'll see YOU in Vegas!
Oh and if you want to give Rodney an even better birthday (and you can afford to) go to ActBlue and give a donation to the campaign in honor of his birthday.
If you'd like to keep up on campaign activities you can find him on Twitter and on Facebook.
Disclosure needed: Some of you may know that my company Progressive PST is doing social media work for the Glassman campaign for which we get paid. What you may not know is that separate from that, I am assisting the campaign on a volunteer basis with netroots outreach and I occasionally write diaries like this one- after I ask myself to do so (eg). I would be volunteering for this campaign and writing these diaries EVEN if they weren't a PPST client because I really do think Rodney is the guy- and I have a semi vested interest in the sense that I grew up in AZ and most of my family is still there.
