Sometimes it feels like nothing we do works. The Democratic Party shits all over the left on every opportunity. We've tried being good little soldiers and shouting down anyone who suggested going third party. We busted our asses for Kerry and Obama and even any number of Blue Dogs and conservadems in 2004, 2006, and 2008. We've sent money. We've been loyal. And still we get very little in return. We've tried doing the third party thing in 2000 and we saw where that got us. We've tried being critical and tried insisting that Obama is playing 11 dimensional chess. While he's been pretty good sometimes, he's been a disappointment far too often. Is this what we constantly have to put up with? How is it that the activist right gets their every whim catered to?
What is it going to take? Rioting in the streets? Massive nonviolent protest? Takeovers of Democratic organizations, on a county-by-county basis? We need to have a massive, long-term planning strategy, I think. Conservatives went from being totally shut out in the 1950s and 1960s to being totally dominant by the 1980s. I think we can come up with something. The problem is, though, this country and the world doesn't have 30 years of center-right rule. I wonder how we can compress the process and strike fear into the heart of centrist and conservative Democrats everywhere. Right now, they're laughing at us. This needs to end.
