I have come across two ideas that I'd like to see tried for cleaning up the oil in the Gulf of Mexico. One idea is for the oil on the surface. The other idea is for the oil under the surface. Both of these ideas are environmentally friendly and have proven themselves to work in small tests done on land.
More below...
Okay, here's the first idea brought to us by Kevin Costner of all people. They use a machine that uses centrifugal force to separate oil from water. They are able to successfully remove 97% of oil from water using this machine. Now, the machine is small, but hundreds of machines could be used and larger machines could be built. Their machine can process up to 200 gallons per minute. Here's the video...
The second idea is about as eco-friendly as it gets. Two guys demonstrate a very simple solution. Their idea is to simply use tons of hay and spread it on the surface of the water. Hay doesn't sink and absorbs oil. Once the oil is absorbed, they would scoop up all the oil-soaked hay on the surface of the water. The hay could be loaded into barges for processing to recover the oil or even be burned for energy. Here's the video...
Now, I'm fully aware that BP is in the oil business and these guys aren't. But I gotta say that ideas like this sure seem a hell of a lot better than BP's "junk shot" "top hat" and "hot tap" ideas...

Anyway, I wanted to put this out there just in case you haven't seen these ideas yet. If you liked this diary, please remember to tip and rec it.
As always, thanks for reading.
