Sestak just moved into the lead and 68% of Philly has already been counted. Sestak's district in Delaware county has just 15% in so far, nearby Chester County hasn't been reported at all, and Sestak is cleaning up in the rest of the state.
Good night Arlen
A few months ago, I was indifferent to this race. Sestak is not exactly a progressive, and I did want to reward Specter for sticking his neck out by voting in favor of the stimulus package. Over time, Specter's voting record became more and more reliably in favor of Obama's agenda, so I should have liked him more, but I didn't.
I had this epiphany -- I recalled standing on the street in Philadelphia in 1992 when I learned that Lynn Yeakal had failed to knock off Snarlin Arlen. I was crushed. How could I vote for this guy now, even though eighteen years had passed?
It's time to turn the page. Six terms of Specter are more than enough. Really, the only worthwhile thing this guy ever came up with was the single bullet theory (I do think he was right about that one).
