Just trying to see the close parallels between the Iraq disaster and the BP Gulf disaster.
Iraq disaster : At the start of the war, it was supposed to be a cakewalk and our troops were supposed to be welcomed with flowers.
BP Gulf disaster : At the start, it was supposed to be a minor accident and the environmental impact was supposed to be "very very modest".
Iraq disaster : Anybody who felt Iraq was going to be a mess was accused of being unpatriotic.
BP Gulf disaster : Those who felt BP had created a mess were accused of being pessimistic and anti-progress.
Iraq disaster : Was supposed to cost us taxpayers nothing because Iraqi oil would pay for any expenses that might be incurred.
BP Gulf disaster : Was supposed to cost us taxpayers nothing because BP would pay for all the expenses (Yeah, right).
Iraq disaster : Was supposed to be over and done with inside 6 months or sooner but has dragged on for years and years and may go on for decades.
BP Gulf disaster : Was supposed to be over and done with inside a week or sooner but has dragged on for weeks and weeks, and may go on for months.
Iraq disaster : Once it became clear that it was a big mess, warmonger Rummy said, "Stuff happens".
BP Gulf disaster : Once it became clear that it was a big mess, teabagger Randy said, "Stuff happens".
Surely there must be many more parallels between the two disasters. Please feel free to add to the list :-(
