I just got an email from my brother David, who has been living and working in China now for years. He loves it over there. I don't know if it's kosher to post this kind of thing here or not, but if you have the qualifications he mentions, there might be a job there for you if you are interested.
His email to me appears over the fold.
From my brother David in Beijing:
Do you know anyone who might be in the market for a job teaching AP Science courses in english to Chinese students?
I am currently teaching and working in Beijing China and am helping with the development of a joint Sino-US AP Science cooperation program. The program is searching for American teachers who would like to teach High School Advanced Placement Science courses in Calculus, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for Chinese Students planning to go to college in the US. The program is about two years old and has been so successful that it is now being expanded to more cities in China.
The job would include airfare, free housing and would involve between 17 and 20 hours a week of work teaching one of the mentioned topics in english. No Chinese language ability required but it is still a plus. There is an allowance for two bedroom accomodation for spouses. The salary will be from $30,000.00 to $35,000.00 annually which is very high in China, for example you can eat out three meals a day in Beijing in fairly nice restaurants for about $10, an hour long taxi drive is also about $10 in Beijing and Beijing is one of the most expensive cities. A Bachelor of Science in Physics, Math, Biology, Chemistry with a minor in education and or High school teaching experience, Masters in same, or PhD are all welcome to apply. Several positions need to be filled by September so please have interested parties contact me at their earliest convenience.
