The government, taxpayers, helped me when I needed it so thank you!
It was 1991, and I was 24 and had not gone to college. I got pregnant.
Now I am 43 and can look back on that time and realize that if it were not for the government, and my family, and therefore the US taxpayers, I would have not been able to have provide for my son and get a college education. I was even recruited by a top firm before I graduated!
So thank you for Medicaid, food stamps, section 8 housing, pell grants, day care assistance, and my student loans (which I am still paying). The day I graduated my case worker sent me a card telling me how happy he was for me. But one of the best days was when I got my first check, off of assistance, and could stand on my own two feet and take care of my asthmatic son (top firm had great health insurance). Thank you all for helping me become a taxpayer myself!
