This is a very short diary because I hadn't seen anyone else note this story yet and I just wanted to get the news out there.
Turns out one of the victims on board the Mavi Marmara was U.S. citizen Furkan Dogan, all of 19 years old. Will this news change the Obama administration's position that Israel is capable of conducting its own "fair and impartial" investigation? Rachel Corrie was also a U.S. citizen and the Bush administration sat by while Israel conducted a whitewash regarding her murder. I call on the Obama administration to change its tune and not let history repeat itself. There is no reason to trust Israel to conduct a full, fair investigation into the murder of U.S. citizen Furkan Dogan and the other victims of the flotilla.
[update] As Costello7 notes below, Dogan was killed by four shots to the head and one to the chest.
[update 2] And the answer to my question about whether this will change the Obama administration position is apparently not:
Clinton said no decision had yet been made about how to handle Dogan's death but renewed calls for Israel to "conduct a prompt, impartial, credible and transparent investigation that conforms to international standards and gets to all the facts surrounding this tragic event."
"We are open to different ways to assuring that it is a credible investigation, including urging appropriate international participation," she said.

You'll forgive me for seeing this as disingenuous nonsense. What is "appropriate international participation," Secretary? A couple of guys on loan from American Special Ops?
