Helen Thomas resigned today for her statement in opposition of the long-standing zionist law of the Jewish right of return.
Or at least that is what you will not hear in the press. They will tell you that she simply said something "very repulsive" and had to leave.
Was her denial of the Jewish right of return so offensive or was it that she mentioned Germany and Poland? I believe that, if she simply said that Israelis should realize that they were living inside an occupied territory and that Tel Aviv is Palestinian and everyone not born there should go back to wherever they came from she may have gotten away with it.
but she mentioned Germany and Poland. . .why do you suppose she did that?
here is what Helen Thomas said,
put together by those who wish to censor her.
She said that the Jewish Israelis should go back to wherever they came from, Germany, Poland and America and wherever else they came from.
--------------
Commonly held beliefs are that, post WWII there were no German and Polish Jews in those countries.
--------------
There are people who do believe that significant numbers of Israelis came from Germany and Poland. These people are holocaust deniers.
Perhaps Helen Thomas is a holocaust denier? Perhaps she is becoming more frail and those countries are simply what came to mind for pre-WWII Jewish populations?
In any event, if one even hints that a significant portion of the Israeli population came from Poland and Germany and America that person is subject to losing their employment and position in history.
