We now know the nature of the felony charge pending against Alvin Greene, who unexpectedly won the Democratic nomination for Jim DeMint's Senate seat. Seems that this guy is suspected of sicko acts with a student at the other Carolina.
Here's more evidence that Republican Sen. Jim DeMint is facing what appears to be the easiest reelection campaign in the country: Alvin Greene, the unknown 32-year-old who somehow won the Democratic Senate nomination in South Carolina, is reportedly facing felony charges for allegedly showing obscene online photos to a University of South Carolina student.
According to police records, back in November Greene showed obscene pictures to the student and then suggested they go to her dorm room. He was arrested and posted bond, but hasn't yet been indicted. And yet, he knew he had this hanging over him when he filed to run? Disgraceful. If Greene doesn't have the decency to pull out, all legal means should be pursued to force him off the ballot.
About the only good thing about this is that it likely disproves rumors that Greene is a "false flag" candidate.
The reason this didn't come up sooner? Practically nobody thought Greene had any chance at all against Vic Rawl, so the media didn't check his background. It's hard to blame them. The guy is a total cipher. No campaign signs, no Website, no money in the bank. He didn't show up at the state Democratic Party convention.
There may be a way to save the state and the party further embarrassment, though. According to the Columbia New Times, he hasn't taken two very important steps that are required by federal law--he hasn't filed with the Secretary of the Senate or sent disclosure reports to the FEC.
This guy may not be a Republican plant, but every minute he's on the ballot is a disgrace to the integrity of the process. He needs to go. Now.
