For those who don't know me well I was born and raised in Arizona. I bleed Arizona Wildcat red and blue. So back in December when someone from the Glassman for Senate (at that time Exploratory committee) called me on a cold lonely day in my struggling ice cream parlor in PA I perked right up. A guy from Tucson...running against McCain? Wow...yay!
I went home to visit my family in March and while there I got to spend some time with Rodney and his wife Sasha, campaign staff Josh and Brad, his brother Jeremy and his campaign manager Patrick. I went back to PA even more excited about this campaign. Now in all fairness, it is well known that I and my biz partners in PPST do social media work for Rodney's campaign...but anyone who knows me knows I take no $ for anything I do in the world of the blogosphere. I blog because I care and there aren't many candidates out there that excite me like this...imagine this...
a US Senate with no John McCain
Dreaming you say? Nope I'm really not. This guy is the real deal...smart, hardworking and ready to be Arizona's Next Senator. And get this, he's more concerned about Arizona than with the idea of being a senator, to the point that he doesn't really want to spend too much time in DC...he'd rather be in Tucson with his friends and family and fellow Arizonans.
So what does all of that have to do with a Photo Diary? Earlier this week the Glassman campaign announced their Arizona First Photo Contest for Arizona residents. Now if you don't live in Arizona you can skip to under the pictures and read more about how you can help because it would be next to impossible for you to enter this contest w/out living in Arizona. Just go to the website, download this sign
and then go out with the sign and take a picture of the sign in front of something in Arizona like
a cactus
or Arizona Stadium
or Lake Havasu
or the State Capitol
or even just a neighborhood snake
The winning photographer will win a brand new flip camera. 2nd and 3rd place get prizes too.
What...you don't live in Arizona but you want to help Rodney beat McCain? There's lots you can do to help:
If you're on Twitter you can go follow him @RodneyGlassman and his staff @TeamGlassman. And if you want you can tweet @TeamGlassman and ask them to sign you up for their new Twitter Rapid Response Team. If you join the team you'll get occasional IMs from the campaign with links of interest, requests for diary participation here on the GOS and things like that.
And if you have a few dollars you can spare you can go to Act Blue and donate to his campaign.
And of course you can keep an eye out, he'll be here posting diaries through out the campaign talking about the issues and talking to us about how we can help.
