Houston, I have a problem.
I work for the government, and I try to be a good boy when I'm online for official business, and not surf to irrelevant places. (Full disclosure: Right now, I'm posting from my personal computer using my private internet account.) Sure, they give us permission to do a little "de minimis" personal surfing during lunch hour, but I try to avoid dodgy websites, and I certainly don't surf to wingnut places. So why is my official e-mail constantly being spammed by Tea Party dreck?
This started late last year, when the Tea Party started up. We have a "Spam" button that is supposed to send such stuff to be analyzed and deletd, but despite almost a year of sending the stuff there, it still shows up. Every day. Really, to me, it's only a minor nuisance, as I don't bother to read it, I just zap it, but what the hell is with my management, supposedly under the control of Tea Party opponents, that they can't prevent this stuff from clogging up the taxpayers' bandwidth? I'd complain to our IT people, but they're low-bid contractors who don't seem to have the foggiest idea of how to take care of most problems. I don't know if this is simply incompetence, or it's a symptom of something worse. Any constructive suggestions would be helpful.
